Celebrating Success at Norbury Primary School

This national award reflects our deep commitment to placing play at the heart of school life, and creating a vibrant, inclusive environment where children can grow in confidence, creativity, and independence.
OPAL—Outdoor Play and Learning—is a nationally recognised programme that helps schools transform their approach to playtimes. It promotes high-quality play opportunities that support physical health, emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social development. Through the OPAL programme, we have reimagined our play spaces and empowered children to take ownership of their time outdoors—offering them freedom, choice, and challenge in a safe and supportive environment.
Achieving the Platinum Award is no small feat. It represents years of sustained effort, vision, and teamwork. It recognises the dedication of our whole school community—from staff and pupils to families and governors—who have embraced a shared belief that play is not just a break from learning, but a powerful and essential part of it.
